A quick update from Homerton University Hospital, where last weekend we successfully completed the first of two major crane lifts as part of an ongoing project. This phase involved removing a 30+ year-old 500KVA generator set and replacing it with a brand-new 1500KVA generator set, which has been in production since early 2024.
Using a six-axle, 300-ton, long-reach Grove mobile crane, we executed multiple lifts of varying sizes, weights, and complexities. The first of the new generators is now in place and ready to begin offline commissioning.
A huge thankyou to Joe Fenn and Darren Webb + the wider site team for their hard work and dedication in achieving this significant milestone!
In parallel, we continue to build and fit out two new 1500KVA substations, which will integrate with the existing 6,660V UKPN grid. This upgrade will significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity for modern renewable technologies while providing greater resilience and redundancy with a full N+1 arrangement.
Stay tuned for further updates as this project progresses!
